The President*s Design Award (P*DA) Singapore 2020 is calling for extraordinary designers and projects that have made an impact through excellent design.
The P*DA is Singapore’s highest honour for designers and designs across all disciplines. It recognises the achievements of an extraordinary group of people making a difference to the lives of Singaporeans and the global community through excellent design. The Patron of the Award is the President of the Republic of Singapore and it is jointly administered by the DesignSingapore Council Pte Ltd (Dsg) and Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA).
The Award is presented in two categories – Designer of the Year and Design of the Year. It celebrates the impact of design in enabling economic transformation; raising the quality of life; advancing Singapore’s brand and culture; and making ground-breaking design achievements. Taking into account the broad and evolving nature of design, it encompasses all design disciplines including emerging practices like systems and strategic design. As such, the P*DA is more than an award – it is envisioned to be a platform that educates and raises awareness about the transformational power of design.
So, if you’re keen to submit your work, email us to register your interest and you’ll receive a submissions guide on how to prepare for the submission when the portal opens. If you’re keen to nominate, email us with the name of the designer/design project, their contact details if possible, and 1-2 lines on why you want to nominate them.
The online submissions portal will open in the first week of October 2019.
Eligibility Criteria: For Designer of the Year submissions, Designers must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident. They can be practising in Singapore or overseas.
For Design of the Year submissions, projects can be based in Singapore or overseas. For Design of the Year (Architecture) the lead architect must be registered with the Board of Architects and licenced to practise in Singapore OR have a partnership with a Singapore-registered architect. For Design of the Year (Design), the project lead must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident, OR the project should be designed in Singapore.
