Puebla City Council has developed a new management model for Puebla, aimed at fostering collaboration among the public sector, private sector, and civil society to promote design and innovation as key factors in developing a sustainable city
Mission
Since 2022, the Office of the Historic Center and Cultural Heritage of the Puebla City Council has developed a new management model for Puebla, aimed at fostering collaboration among the public sector, private sector, and civil society to promote design and innovation as key factors in developing a sustainable city and to leverage Puebla’s creative, social, economic, and cultural potential.
Through this management model, the Puebla Creative Design City Committee was established, a collegiate body composed of citizens from local government and key representatives of Puebla’s creative sector.
In 2023, the Committee designed, managed, and executed, through the Office of the Historic Center and Cultural Heritage, a strategy to develop the new visual identity of Puebla Design City, which can be promoted across various formats and media, as well as to diverse audiences and partners.
The new visual identity, developed by the Puebla-based studio “Enigma Diseño,” was presented during the 8th anniversary of the city of Puebla’s integration into the UNESCO Creative Cities Network on December 11 at the Municipal Palace. The main concept of the new visual identity of Puebla Design City, both in the logo and its accompanying visual language system, is inspired by the city’s iconic grid layout and the creative, cultural, social, and professional networks that converge daily in the capital of Puebla.
In the brand center of Puebla Design City, more applications of the brand can be seen, and Puebla residents can download the logo and typography to incorporate them into their projects.
On Friday, April 26, 2024, the project for the new visual identity of “Puebla Design City” was awarded the Grand Prize at the National Design Award: Diseña México, achieving:
- Grand Winner of the “Visual Communications Design” Category (one of the seven categories of the national competition).
- Grand Winner of the “Identity” Subcategory (within the “Visual Communications Design” Category).
- HONOR Award, for being the best project across all categories of the competition.
Vision
With the development of the new visual identity of Puebla Design City, we achieved:
- Establishing a new precedent in the communication and promotion of Puebla as a UNESCO Creative City.
- Creating an authentic and vibrant representation of the city’s creative wealth that can be embraced by all citizens.
- Energizing the creative, social, cultural, and economic agenda of the city through design
