Project

With a view to building quality living environments, the City of Montréal developed a toolkit that provides digital awareness, planning and decision-support tools to help determine how design and architecture projects can deliver maximum benefits for the settings in which they are implemented. The Quality Toolkit outlines various notions that aim at instilling quality in projects.

It includes a number of tools:

  • Dessign Compass, which project teams can use to map out a vision and determine what actions to implement;
  • Themed backgrounders that expand on various concepts and provide guidance for their application; – Video case studies to better understand the quality notions and view them in a real-world context;
  • Publications cataloguing exemplary practices and explaining how they can be applied in various contexts.

The Toolkit is for managers and promoters as well as design and architecture professionals and is intended to facilitate implementation of the Montréal 2030 Agenda for Quality and Exemplarity in Design and Architecture.

Mission

The Quality Toolkit promotes quality in design and architecture, helping to shape a city that is conducive to health and wellness for all, more socially equitable, pluralistic and inclusive, more environmentally responsible, more economically efficient, more culturally attractive and fulfilling, and more resilient to crises and changes.
