the project develops temporary use programmes within the realm of regeneration initiatives across Europe, harnessing culture and creative collaboration to prototype urban hubs of sustainability, social innovation, and inclusion.
Project
T-Factor is a European, Horizon 2020 project involving the collective effort of many organisations including cities, universities, businesses and grassroots communities. Together, we create new knowledge and tools for temporary use, contributing to realise inclusive and thriving futures in cities.
The project develops temporary use programmes within the realm of regeneration initiatives across Europe, harnessing culture and creative collaboration to prototype urban hubs of sustainability, social innovation, and inclusion. T-Factor works through six pilot cities (Lisbon, Bilbao, London, Amsterdam, Milan and Kaunas), who host the development of place-based programmes of temporary uses. Likewise, eight advanced cases work as primary sources of inspiration and learning, showing pioneering approaches to temporary urbanism.
Working across both early and advanced regeneration initiatives, T-Factor ultimately aspires to foster sustainable and resilient communities, empower local stakeholders, and inspire global dialogue on the role of temporary uses in shaping vibrant, equitable, and adaptable urban environments for generations to come.
Mission
Bilbao, as a T-Factor pilot city, builds through temporary uses an innovation ecosystem between universities, cultural and creative spaces and the local administration.
Thanks to this collaboration, students gained the experience of producing, developing, manufacturing and testing temporary urban spaces that responded to challenges identified in the area under regeneration.
