Tanween Programme

aims to empower designers by fostering innovation and sustainability.

Project

The Tanween Design Programme, initiated by Tashkeel in 2013, aims to empower designers by fostering innovation and sustainability. In its eleventh iteration, the program features its largest cohort to date, including notable designers such as Majid Al Bastaki and Khadija Al Mazimi. Over the course of eleven months, participants will collaborate with engineers and scientists to address critical global challenges through functional design. Sustainability serves as a core principle, guiding the development of innovative solutions that are both practical and environmentally responsible. By facilitating this collaborative environment, Tanween seeks to inspire a new generation of designers committed to making a positive impact on society and the planet. The program continues to strengthen Dubai’s design landscape, encouraging creativity while promoting sustainable practices in various industries.

Mission

Tanween fosters sustainable design and material innovation, exploring eco-friendly composites, locally sourced textiles, and circular design principles. Projects include waste-reducing construction solutions and adaptable modular systems, addressing urban challenges. These innovations reflect contemporary design needs while aligning with regional cultural narratives for impactful, relevant solutions.
