The Municipality of Covilhã, a UNESCO Creative City of Design and member of the Portuguese Association of Cities and Villages of Ceramics (APTCVC), hosted an artistic residency that merged ceramics and wool.
Directed by Patricia José Machado Oliveira, an artist and professor at the University of Minho, the residency took place at the Condomínio Associativo da Covilhã (CAC) between July 15th and 19th, providing an opportunity for twelve participants to explore the application of new techniques in ceramics and, specifically, to work on the potential of wool and its relationship with the programmatic axes of Art, Design, and Craftsmanship. The residency resulted in unique pieces that were showcased at an exhibition titled “O Fio do Barro” or “The Clay Thread” during the third edition of “FIADA – International Fair of Crafts, Design, and Other Arts”, held at Jardim das Artes (Covilhã) from September 5th to 8th, 2024.
