From May 24 to 26, the Ville de Montréal’s Bureau du design attended for the third time at the C2 Montréal immersive event (2013 and 2014 editions), with its CODE SOUVENIR MONTRÉAL market.  The space, dedicated to promoting made-in-Montréal creativity, brought together 27 designers whose work was featured in the CODE SOUVENIR MONTRÉAL 2016–2017 catalogue. The purpose of the CODE SOUVENIR MONTRÉAL catalogue is to encourage public-sector organizations and private-sector companies to purchase products emblematic of Montréal, UNESCO City of Design, as corporate gifts, promotional items or souvenirs for VIP guests.

Thanks to the market, visitors to C2 Montréal got a sense of the scope of Montréal designers’ talents and, who knows, perhaps take home an original piece that can only be found here. Each year, more than 5,000 decision-makers and creative minds gather at C2 Montréal to collectively shape, experience, and challenge the future of business.

After SIDIM (Montréal Design Show) and C2 Montréal, the city’s Bureau du design and its CODE SOUVENIR MONTRÉAL initiative was hosted by the XII World Congress of Metropolis (World Association of the Major Metropolises) at the Palais des congrès de Montréal from June 19 to 22, 2017. Metropolis, whose current president is Montréal mayor Denis Coderre, brings together decision makers from the world’s major cities along with public, institutional, private, community, and academic stakeholders under the theme “Global Challenges: Major Cities in Action.” Around twenty Montréal designers from the 2016-2017 CODE SOUVENIR MONTRÉAL catalogue were be on hand to present and sell their products and to promote Montréal creativity. Visitors were able to admire the breadth of talent of the city’s designers and perhaps even take home a unique item that can only be found here. The whole idea behind CODE SOUVENIR MONTRÉAL is to encourage public sector organizations and private companies to purchase products emblematic of Montréal, UNESCO City of Design to give as corporate gifts, promotional items, and souvenirs for VIP guests.

Other CODE SOUVENIR MONTRÉAL pop-up markets could be held in 2017, stay tuned through the Bureau du design’s Facebook and Twitter accounts!
