Helsinki New – Fashion Showcase is a new annual fashion event presenting Finnish designers and brands in annual event to consumers, international press and buyers. Helsinki New gathers together presentations, fashion shows, exhibitions, shopping and other events in one week programme.
Young Finnish fashion designers have attained wide acclaim in the international fashion industry due to the artistic knowledge and exceptionally good quality that they present. Great success for Finnish fashion students in international competitions in the recent years, like Festival d’Hyerès, ITS International Talent support, H&M Design Awards and Designer’s Nest, has created a Finnish fashion phenomenon
The Helsinki New – Fashion Showcase organizers Miia Koski and Martta Louekari from Juni Communications & Production have broad experience in working with exporting Finnish talents “We have many designers and brands that deserve international attention. The industry needs the development of strong business models and international network.” says Miia Koski. “We feel that now is the time for a bigger event here in Helsinki and besides the media attention we need to focus on growing the business opportunities for the fashion companies.”
The first edition of Helsinki New presents events for both fashion professionals and for the bigger audience from a broad range of designers and companies ranging from commercial brands to recently graduated students. The new wave of Finnish fashion is considered interesting due to exceptionally good quality and high artistic value. The emphasis is on conceptual thinking and the aim is to create a strong story and a unique visual world.
The programme consists of fashion shows, seminars, exhibitions and presentations from labels such as Samuji and ONAR, both listed Vogue Talents “ones to watch from Finland” this February. The programme will also present the young heroes of the Finnish fashion scene, the finalists of this year’s Festival d’Hyerès, Hanne Jurmu & Anton Vartiainen and Rolf Ekroth.
