The Municipality of Covilhã, in compliance with UNESCO’s Creative City Action Plan, will promote the first edition of the International Design Triennial, between March 21 and June 21, 2025.
Entitled “Here, now: bioregional paths and situated practices”, the Triennial’s international exhibition is a central part of its program. It presents ideas of bioregional and situated design practices through exemplary projects that are considered fundamental to redefining what the discipline of design is today and can be in the near future. A bioregional approach to design understands its territory as an ecosystem in all its complexity. It reconsiders ideas of value, wealth and scarcity; it questions the fate of waste and resources; it rethinks the meaning of productivity and efficiency.
