Wuhan Design Day 2021 & The Sixth Wuhan Design Biennale

This year, Wuhan City of Design will host the Wuhan Design Day 2021 & The Sixth Wuhan Design Biennale from 1 November to 12 November 2021. Revolving around the theme “Quality City”, the events will focus on the ties between design and environmental protection, and explore how to realize a green urban development driven by design.

A series of events celebrating design will be unrolled under mainly three sections: thematic exhibitions/events, featured exhibitions/events and branded exhibitions/events. One objective is to display the design landscape and achievements of the city in a multi-pronged and all-around approach. A great variety of activities will take place in a two-week period including design contests, design releases, forums, conferences, researches, fairs and exhibitions, etc… Works from different creative areas like product design, animation, multimedia arts, gastronomy and paintings will be exhibited by diverse means.

As a UNESCO City of Design, Wuhan Design Days and Biennales remain an international platform for the city to exchange and cooperate with partner creative cities. This year, City of Design Puebla of Mexico will be invited to be our guest of honor. A special exhibition dedicated to displaying the Design Cluster will also be set up to tell the design stories and showcase design projects of all the cities of design around the globe, aiming to embody the sharing, learning, cooperating and networking nature of our design cluster.

During the Biennale, the Wuhan Creative Cities Roundtable Conference will celebrate its fourth edition with sessions on October 31 and November 2nd around the topic “developing infrastructures for the creative industries”, in observation of the International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development 2021 designated by UN. Keynote speakers from creative cities will be invited to share their views on the growth and impact of creative industries and infrastructure of the industries. A Report compiling the contents of the Roundtable will be circulated in due course after the event.
