Africa’s first d.confestival – a design thinking conference-meets-festival hosted by the Hasso Plattner d-school (design school) Afrika at UCT in October – brought together over 300 in-person and 100 virtual delegates over three days ( 12 to 14 October 2022).
The festival brought together a boisterous mix of change-makers from business, government, education, social development and university students to celebrate the success of design thinking globally and explore its potential for dialing up Africa’s creative potential to solve complex problems across the continent.
The event doubled up with the official launch of the Hasso Plattner Institute’s d-school building, home to the Hasso Plattner d-school Afrika and was funded by the Hasso Plattner Foundation. The building was officially opened by Prof Dr. Hasso Plattner and Mamokghethi Phakeng, UCT’s vice chancellor on 13 October 2022.
