The Craft + Design Institute (CDI) and the Kingdom of the Netherlands in South Africa (#cocreateSANL), is hosting a series of monthly events to share knowledge and ideas on how to deal with some of our biggest COVID-19 related challenges.
The Creative Exchange is an event series which CDI has run for the past 20 years. In 2021, it builds on the #cocreateDESIGN FESTIVAL, which the CDI and Netherlands Consulate General in Cape Town have hosted since 2018. The Creative Exchange continues the Festival theme of 2020, which centred on the 4th Industrial Revolution, the use of design thinking, and digitally-enabled solutions.
The March event, themed Designing a brave post-COVID world, explored the current context and what’s needed to overcome South Africa’schallenges. The Creative Exchange April theme, Healthcare by design – towards accessible services for all in SA, delved into key challenges within the healthcare sector and highlighted the design of innovative solutions to overcome these.
Underlying the 2021 Creative Exchange series, which leads into the next #COCREATE DESIGN FESTIVAL in September 2021, are four key topic pillars. Particular focus is on inclusive digital innovation and creative solutions to address what COVID-19 has left even more vulnerable:
- Access to safe water and sanitation
- Access to healthcare
- Access to a resilient economy
